About the Blog

Baby and the Barnyard is not about cute baby animals on the farm, though there are plenty of those around here. It is actually modeled after my all-time favorite fairy tale, Beauty and the Beast. The concept of "baby" is like the concept of Beauty, sweet and wonderful. With her, life is different, but in all the right ways. When I say "barnyard," I do not mean the literal home of farm animals, but rather a metaphor for chaos, like the zoo or circus. Clearly this chaos represents the Beast in the fairy tale. With a baby in your life, there is bound to be chaos. Until recently, I never realized the full spectrum of chaos that baby brings with them. I am not just referring to the sleepless nights, diaper blowouts, and tantrums. I am talking about chaos that erupts from unexpected sources.
